This started as a genuine question I had. We have a 3BHK in Mylapore — the living room is about 12 feet wide, the TV wall has the television, and the side wall (which faces the seating) had nothing on it except a faint mark where someone had previously hung something. I wanted a clock. I could not decide if the ₹12,000 range was genuinely different from the ₹400 range or if I'd just be paying for the story around the product.
So I bought both. The Glass Tiles Clock at ₹370 and the Feather and Birds Clock at ₹12,733. Both from Shopps.in. Both arrived free — IGST-inclusive, no delivery charge to Chennai. I've had both on the wall for about two months now. Here's the honest comparison.
Before I get into it
The ₹370 piece is the Glass Tiles Clock — a small glass mosaic disc. The ₹12,733 piece is the Feather and Birds Clock — a large-format laser-cut metal wall clock. They are not the same product at different prices. They are fundamentally different objects serving different rooms and purposes. That's actually the most important finding of this test.
The ₹370 Clock — Glass Tiles
I put it in our bedroom. It works perfectly there. The glass tiles catch light differently at different times of day — in the morning sun it picks up a warm glow, in the evening under warm LED it looks like amber. At 30 cm it fills the small wall section above the bedside table without dominating. It tells the time. It looks considered rather than generic.
Would it work on the 12-foot living room wall I originally wanted a clock for? No. Definitely not. It would look like I'd pinned a coaster to the wall. But in the bedroom at that price — it is genuinely good value. The mosaic quality is better than I expected for ₹370.
The ₹12,733 Clock — Feather and Birds
This went on the 12-foot living room wall. And the first thing I noticed when I stepped back was: it fills the space. Not overwhelmingly — it's 43 cm, not 90 cm. But it fills it correctly. There's visual weight behind it. The feather spread creates a natural upward pull — your eye goes to the top of the feather before it travels down to the clock face. The shadow play is real: at different times of day, with our Chennai afternoon sun coming from the south window, the cut metal casts a different shadow pattern on the wall. That doesn't happen with glass or resin.
The build quality is noticeably better than I expected at this price — and I had reasonably high expectations. The powder coat is even, the mechanism is silent (important — I tested it for clock tick before ordering by WhatsApping +91-99468-28484 and they confirmed sweep movement), and the hanging hardware is proper recessed mounts, not a wire loop.
The Honest Side-by-Side
"They are not the same product at different prices. They are two different solutions to two different problems."
Three Others from Shopps.in I'd Buy for Different Rooms
Before you order — what I learned
WhatsApp +91-99468-28484 before buying any piece above ₹5,000 — ask specifically about movement type (sweep vs tick), exact dimensions, and material finish. They responded same-day for me both times. Toll-free is 1800-203-7307. All prices are IGST-inclusive; no checkout surprises.
